here tundra...have a banana

i've lived in colorado for 13 years and i don't think that i've taken the time to enjoy the beautiful state that i live in. case and point? before yesterday, i'd never been to the maroon bells. which is made even more interesting by the fact that they are the most photographed mountains in the US...and if you haven't noticed, i have a penchant for taking pictures.

as i said, yesterday i remedied the situation (or the "sitch" as whitney would put it). (c; i called whitney, as she goes hiking a lot and i assumed, correctly, that she had probably been there. she was totally up for the trip and we planned on driving up early yesterday.

it was a gorgeous drive thru parts of my state that i had never seen before.

i took a ridiculous amount of pictures, got a little sunburned and became a meal for various bugs...but it was totally worth it. we ended up getting there about 11 and stayed until just a little after 1, so really we were there at the worst time for light, photographically speaking, but it didn't really matter. i'm not sure that valley ever looks bad, there are just times that it looks better than other times.

because i took way to many pictures to post here, i'll be posting more on my flickr account if you are bored and want to check them out. (c: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephonix/

The Maroon Bells series of photos is really nice. It makes me wish I could buy some real cameras and go to town.
